Air fryer Buffalo lemon pepper chicken wings are so underrated. There are so many positive things that I can say about this buffalo lemon pepper recipe. On the contrary, instead of talking about it, let us make it instead?

The Art Of The Air Fryer Buffalo Lemon Pepper Recipe

There is an art to this buffalo lemon pepper recipe. In fact, I would go as far as to say that there is an art to making any batch of air fryer buffalo lemon pepper chicken wings, let me explain.

Hot sauce and lemon pepper are great together, but you have to use a precise amount of both of them.

With both hot sauce and lemon pepper having a sourness to them, it is easy to overdo on one or the other, then end up with something that is too sour.

You can be reading this and not fully appreciate the art of making these chicken wings.

However, when you attempt making air fryer buffalo lemon pepper chicken wings, and it does not come out right, you start to appreciate getting it done the right way.

How Good Are Air Fryer Buffalo Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings?

When made right, air fryer buffalo lemon pepper chicken wings are great. You get a generous taste of lemon with a kick of spiciness that comes from the hot sauce.

All this on some well-seasoned chicken wings is incredible.

Chicken Wings That Fall Off The Bone

The love for fall-off-the-bone chicken wings is real over here. Most of the wings that I make are falling off the bone.

Admittedly, the chicken wings that I made using an air fryer do not fall off the bone, but the meat is so tender that it does not even matter.

If you are like me, who like their wings falling off the bone, try these lemon pepper wings and these buffalo wings.

Ironically, if you throw those two recipes together and cook them in the air fryer, then you will have this recipe.

How Long Should I Put Buffalo Lemon Pepper Wings In The Air Fryer?

This buffalo lemon pepper recipe allows the wings to cook for a total of 25 minutes.

Furthermore, this is based on the recipe that is currently being discussed. I am sure there are other recipes that show different ways of cooking these chicken wings, and the wings come out fine.

Why Is It Called Buffalo Flavor?

Before we dive into why buffalo sauce has the name buffalo in it, let us make one thing clear. The name buffalo referring to the sauce has nothing to do with a buffalo or a bison.

Cue the music that indicates how shocking that news was. If you are like me, then you were today years old finding out about this, but wait, there is more.

The name is derived from a small mom-and-pop diner called Anchor Bar. This restaurant is located in Buffalo, New York.

If I had to take a guess, I would have to say that the name came from the city that the restaurant is located in. There is more to this story, so I will continue.

This place was known as the originator of the sauce that we are currently discussing, so let us give credit to Frank Teressa Bellissimo.

How Long Does It Take To Air Fry Chicken Wings At 400?

This is an interesting question. The reason is that I cook my chicken wings at 375 degrees for the majority of the cooking process.

I do not cook the wings at 400 degrees until I add the sauce. During that time, the wings cook for 5 minutes.

The reason why I cook my wings at 375 degrees over 400 degrees is that I want my chicken wings to fully cook without the outside of the wings being too dry.

Seasoning The Wings

In a mixing bowl, add the seasoning to the wings, then mix it up so that the seasoning can evenly coat the wings.

Place your wings in your dual air fryer. Put half the wings on one side and the rest on the other side. Each side will have two lemon slices on top of the wings.

If you do not have a dual air fryer, then you may have to cook the wings in two separate batches, depending on how big your air fryer is.

Also, each batch will have 2 lemon slices, but if you are cooking the wings in one batch, then that batch will use all 4 of the lemon slices.

Cooking The Wings

Cook both sides for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Once done, flip the wings over and cook for another 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

Remove the lemon slices, and add the hot sauce and unsalted butter. If you are using the dual air fryer, then each side will have 1 tbsp of hot sauce and 1/2 tbsp of unsalted butter.

Mix the sauce with the wings to the best of your ability, then cook both sides at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.

Add Garnish

Place the wings on a plate, then garnish the wings with the lightly dried basil leaves.

The Buffalo Lemon Pepper Recipe That Is On The Top

I think I enjoy lemon pepper chicken wings so much because of the zestiness. Of course, anything lemon flavor will have some sourness to it, but lemon pepper wings done right are not too sour.

The same can be said about buffalo wings. Of course, buffalo wings are not as near as sour as lemon pepper wings, but regardless, they are a match made in heaven.

With that being said, get your hot sauce and lemon pepper ready because things are going to get spicy around here!
