Mama’s Apple Pie

Somebody told me that nothing is better than mom’s apple pie. Unfortunately, my mom never made apple pie, but she will make a cake that will make your body quake.

Now that I think about it, nobody in my family makes apple pie.

I grew up in a household where we ate peach cobbler, banana pudding, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, strawberry cheesecake, and a lot of other sweet and delicious desserts.

Growing up, an easy homemade apple pie filling recipe was foreign.

Regrettably, because of my upbringing, I missed out on a lot of good apple pies. Furthermore, my mom, grandmother, and aunts would make a killer apple pie. Instead, I was stuck with apple pies from fast food places.

Eating those apple pies made me come to the conclusion that I did not care for apple pies, or so I thought.

Since my family made pies, I was always a custom to eating pies that are accommodated with a good, easy homemade pie crust.

At this point, the obstacle for making a good apple pie was to make the perfect, easy homemade apple pie filling recipe.

Creating The Perfect, Easy Homemade Apple Pie Filling Recipe

The feeling of making the perfect, easy homemade apple pie filling is incredible. Not only because of taste, but also because it is not an easy task.

On one end, you can’t overcook the filling. Be mindful that after cooking the filling separately, we will be cooking the apple pie with the filling in it.

Also, you can’t undercook the filling, unless you want an apple pie with a hard filling in it.

Do You Cook Apples Before Putting Them In A Pie?

For this recipe, the apples are cooked before putting them in the pie. The reason is that if you cook the pie with uncooked apples, then the pie crust will be cooked, but the apples will still be hard.

I recommend cooking the apples beforehand unless you like eating a crunchy apple pie.

What Kind Of Apples Make The Best Pie Filling?

You can use any apples you want for an apple pie. The best apples for an easy homemade apple pie filling are granny smith apples. The sourness of the apple, combined with the sweetness of the brown sugar, is incredible.

Also, the other spices bring everything together due to their compatibility with the granny smith apples.

Why Are The Apples In My Pie Crunchy?

Your pie is crunchy and nobody wants to eat your apple pie. The reason is that the apples are undercooked.

Try cooking the apples beforehand, then put that easy homemade apple pie filling into the savory pie crust.

As a result, you will make apple pies that everybody will love.

Can You Refrigerate Apple Pie Filling?

Yes, you can refrigerate your easy homemade apple pie filling. You do not have to use your filling for a pie if you do not want to.

Maybe you want to eat some now and save the rest for later. In that case, it may be in your best interest to put the pie filling in the refrigerator. Otherwise, the pie filling will go bad.
