It is an astonishing feeling to be creative whenever I am making steaks. Furthermore, I remember a few years back when my steaks were terrible. Yep, I have come a long way.

Valentine is the worse day when you are making a romantic dinner, but you end up with steaks that are not flattering to the taste buds.

I was making steak and shrimp for babe, and the food came out bad. When I tell you that was a humbling experience, I was lost for words.

Part of the reason that I was lost for words is that my mouth was full. If you think that I am about to waste a 20 dollar steak, then you are crazy. Here are some of the issues with the food.

The steak and shrimp were too salty, the steak was overcooked and tough, and overall I was doing too much with the meal without using the proper techniques.

That day was years before I came out of retirement and made a savory steak recipe.

It is crazy because at one point I thought that making steaks just was not for me, but now look at me. I done made a whole garlic Parmesan flat iron steak recipe.

What Is Flat Iron Steak

Flat iron steak is a cut of a steer that at one point was deemed to be unfit to be considered steak.

We should add that to the list of things that did not age well. Flat iron steak is enjoyed by everyone. Also, you would look crazy by saying that a flat iron steak is unfit to be considered steak in today’s time.

Furthermore, when you add flavor to the flat iron steaks, it tastes that much better. That is why I made this garlic Parmesan steak recipe.

How To Cook A Flat Iron Steak

There are multiple ways to cook a steak, but my personal favorite is cooking a steak via cast-iron skillet.

I cook the steaks on all sides, but I make sure to not cook the steak for too long, I do not want to overcook the steak.

How To Grill Flat Iron Steak

If you prefer to grill your flat iron steak, then it is as simple as this. Heat your grill up, then place your steaks on the grill.

The time that it will take to cook the steaks will depend on how you like your steaks. Also, this rule still applies when you are making the garlic Parmesan steak recipe.

How To Make Garlic Parmesan Sauce

The traditional way to make a garlic Parmesan sauce is to mix garlic, Parmesan, and other ingredients in order to make the sauce.

Since this will be a sauce, you will also need some type of wet ingredient. Without the wet ingredient, this is just a garlic Parmesan dry rub.

For this garlic Parmesan flat iron steak recipe, the garlic Parmesan sauce is made once add the garlic, unsalted butter, basil, and Parmesan cheese.

The sauce will cover the steak during the basting process.

Making The Garlic Parmesan Flat Iron Steak Recipe

Ingredients

  • 0.88 Lb Ribeye Steak
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Crushed Pepper Flakes
  • 2 oz Onion, Sliced in rings
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 tsp Fresh Basil, Chopped
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, Shredded
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

Equipment

  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • Tongs
  • Metal Spoon
  • Stovetop
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

How To Make Garlic Parmesan Steak

Let your steak sit out until it is room temperature. This will help you get that delicious, golden crust.

Next, season the steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, red crushed pepper flakes, and dried thyme. Ensure that the steak is all the way covered with the seasoning.

Cook The Steak

Add the oil to the cast iron skillet, and heat it up at the highest temperature that you can for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, add the steak to the cast iron skillet.

You should hear a loud sizzling noise as soon as you put the steak in the cast iron skillet.

Cook the steak for 3 minutes. Flip the steak over, and cook for one minute. After that, cook each side for 30 seconds, which will be a total of 2 minutes.

Add The Rest Of The Ingredients

Once those sides are done, put the steak back on the side that was only cooked for 1 minute. Add the unsalted butter, minced garlic, basil, and Parmesan cheese to the cast iron skillet.

Make sure that the Parmesan cheese and basil are on top of the steak.

The steak will now cook for 2 minutes. During that 2 minutes, baste the steak frequently. When I baste my steaks, I keep going until the 2 minutes are up.

Remove the steak from the cast iron skillet, and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
