My Introduction To The Jamaican Pumpkin Beef Soup Recipe

When it comes down to me eating Caribbean food, I am introduced to the dish in either one or two ways. The first way is through someone making it for me.

It is rude in some cultured to deny food, so who am I to pass up on a bowl full of deliciousness? The second way is through sheer hype.

Furthermore, if there is a lot of hype behind a dish, then I have to check it out to see what all the hype is about.

I was able to try Jamaican pumpkin beef soup as soon as it was introduced to me, and I knew at the moment that this would be perfect for consuming during the winter.

Do not get me wrong, this can be eaten all year round, but soup always hit differently in the wintertime. In fact, this is especially true when the soup is hot.

What Meat Does Pumpkin Go With?

I have to admit, I do not go out of my way to eat pumpkins. I did try a sweet pumpkin seasoning that was pretty good. Also, pumpkin drinks are pretty good as well.

With that in mind, let me say this. There are two types of people in this world. The ones who eat pumpkin pie, and the ones who eat sweet potato pie, and let’s just say that I will choose the sweet potato pie every single time.

On the contrary, this makes my Jamaican pumpkin beef soup recipe that much more impressive. Of course, the title of the recipe suggests that beef will go perfectly with pumpkin and that is true.

Other meats that go with pumpkins are pork, chicken, shrimp, fish, lamb, goat, lobster, crab, etc. I can keep going on and on about the list of meats that you can eat with pumpkin, but I think you get the picture.

How Long Does Pumpkin Take To Boil?

The length that it takes to boil a pumpkin will depend on what you are trying to accomplish. After the water comes to a boil, at a medium to low temperature, the pumpkin will need to simmer for 15 minutes.

If the temperature is on the lower end, then you will need to boil the pumpkin for 20 minutes.

If you want to puree the pumpkin, then you will need to cook the pumpkin for 40 to 45 minutes. Usually, pureeing a pumpkin involves baking the pumpkin in the oven.

We’re currently talking about how long it will take to boil a pumpkin, but I figured that speaking on other ways to make a pumpkin is worth mentioning.

What Is The Best Meat For Beef Soup?

The best meat for beef soup would be beef, I would imagine. I do not think that anybody would a beef soup and say that the best thing for the soup is chicken. At that point that is not beef soup, that is chicken and beef soup.

How Do I Make Beef Soup Taste Better?

Seasoning and I cannot say that enough times, but even more vital than that would be fresh ingredients. I am talking about fresh vegetables, meats, and anything else that you can think of.

Also, pumpkin puree is good in beef soup as well. That is one of the main ingredients in the Jamaican pumpkin beef soup recipe.

What Is The Difference Between Beef Stew And Beef Soup?

When it comes down to the difference between beef stew and beef soup, it is the difference between the amount of liquid one has over the other.

Furthermore, this difference applies to soups and stews as a whole, not just beef stew and beef soup. Beef soup has a lot more liquid than beef stew.

To be transparent, I’m typically not the biggest fan of eating a meal with a lot of liquid in it, however, those meals are the best during the winter. Also, when they are made right, they taste delicious no matter when you eat them.

What Can I Use Beef Broth For?

Funny enough, the Jamaican pumpkin beef soup recipe does not use beef broth. Instead, the soup uses water and beef bouillon.
