Lemon Pepper Is Good On Everything

Lemon pepper is one of the things that I am thankful for. It is not even Thanksgiving yet, but I show my thanks every day. Thus, this lemon pepper surf and turf recipe was created.

This seasoning goes well with so many dishes. I even used some lemon pepper with some hot sauce and made these buffalo lemon pepper wings.

I was a little worried about them at first due to both lemon pepper and hot sauce having a little sourness to their flavor.

Fortunately, with the right measurements, the two ingredients combined made a fantastic meal. Thinking about that combination now makes me want to make a spicy version of this lemon pepper steak and shrimp recipe.

Also, I tried lemon pepper on my burger, and it came out incredible. Who would have ever thought that a lemon pepper burger would be so good?

Now, I need to try the lemon pepper flat iron steak and shrimps recipe with some cheese and some hamburger buns. I would put all those things together and make a lemon pepper shrimp and steak burger.

What Is Medium Rare For Steak? What Is A Rare Steak?

A medium-rare steak is warm, red, juicy, and tender. For the steak to officially be medium-rare, the temperature needs to be between 30° to 135 °F.

How long do I cook a steak to medium-rare? Cook on each side of the steak for 2 minutes.

Most will judge you based on your steak preference, but who cares what they think.

People who eat well-done steak are looked at as a menace to society, but if you enjoy eating leather, then that is your business.

People who eat rare steak are looked at as a vampire, but when I last checked, Dracula was considered an icon.

Medium-well is my preference, just in case anybody was wondering.

That is how I like my lemon pepper flat iron steak and shrimp recipe. Also, you can still eat this lemon pepper surf and turf recipe regardless of what your preference is.

The point I am trying to make is to eat your steak the way you like to eat it. Life is too short to eat steak that makes you unhappy.

How To Cook A Lemon Pepper Flat Iron Steak

To understand how to cook this lemon pepper steak and shrimp recipe, you must first ask this question. What is flat iron steak?

Flat iron steak is a cut of a steer that at one point was deemed to be unfit to be considered steak.

That piece of meat was not good enough to be considered steak because everybody was eating leather, I mean, well-done steak.

Lemon Pepper Steak And Shrimps

I am kidding, no judgment over here about how you eat your steak. People slept on the steak until they realized how tender it was.

You do not even have to eat a rare steak to enjoy the tenderness of the flat iron steak, but I do not care to eat a bloody steak, so it does not hurt me to sacrifice a bit of tenderness so that I do not eat a raw steak.

With that being said, the lemon pepper flat iron steak and shrimp recipe is the perfect surf and turf dish for anyone to try.

The Wok Seared Steak And Shrimp With Lemon Pepper

Another way to make a delicious lemon pepper surf and turf recipe is to make wok seared steak and shrimp.

What differentiates the wok seared steak and shrimp from the flat iron steak and shrimp is simply cooking the food with a wok.

How Long Is Cooked Shrimp Good For?

To create the lemon pepper steak and shrimps recipe, you have to use shrimps that have not expired.

Furthermore, without the steaks, shrimps are delicious, but with the steak, no meal can compete. On the contrary, none of that matters if the shrimps, or/and the steaks are spoiled.

You have all that food that came from your surf and turf dish. Moreover, you realized that is too much food, and you do not want to overeat.

You save your food for later, but this leads to the question of how long are cooked shrimps good for?

The last thing you want to do is to ruin the lemon pepper surf and turf recipe with not so fresh ingredients.

Cooked shrimps can be good for up to 3 to 4 days if refrigerated, but if I were you, I would eat those shrimps sooner than that. Why? Because you can never be too careful with the food that you eat.

The last thing you want to do is to get food poisoning.

If you have left the shrimps out overnight, then I would recommend cutting your losses and throwing them in the garbage.

Bad shrimps got you up all night talking about, “something fishy is going on around here”. The only thing FISHY AROUND HERE is your stomach, and possibly the bathroom, with your sick self in it.

How To Defrost Shrimps For The Flat Iron Steak And Shrimp Recipe

I am a simple man. I take my meat out of the freezer, then I put it in a pot with hot water. Defrosting shrimps is no different.

The good thing about shrimps is that they defrost fast with some hot water.

The Ultimate Lemon Pepper Sauce

I enjoy eating wings fried and baked. I’m not too picky with the way it is made, but right now we are not talking about wings, we are talking about this lemon pepper surf and turf recipe.

If you want some lemon pepper wings, then I have a recipe that will get you right.

Let your steak sit out until it is room temperature. This will help you get that delicious, golden crust.

Next, season the steak with salt, black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon pepper. Ensure that the steak is all the way covered with the seasoning.

Cooking The Steak

Add the oil to the cast iron skillet, and heat it up at the highest temperature that you can for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, add the steak to the cast iron skillet.

You should hear a loud sizzling noise as soon as you put the steak in the cast iron skillet.

Cook the steak for 3 minutes. Flip the steak over, and cook for one minute. After that, cook each side for 30 seconds, which will be a total of 2 minutes.

Time To Add The Rest Of The Steak Ingredients, Then Cook Shrimps

Once those sides are done, put the steak back on the side that was only cooked for 1 minute. Add the unsalted butter, rosemary, thyme, garlic, lemon slices, lemon juice, red crushed pepper flake, and 1/4 teaspoon of lemon pepper to the cast iron skillet.

The steak will now cook for 2 minutes. During that 2 minutes, baste the steak frequently. When I baste my steaks, I keep going until the 2 minutes are up.

Remove the steak from the cast iron skillet, and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. While the steak is resting, add the shrimp to the skillet.

Cooking The Shrimps

Add 1 teaspoon of lemon pepper seasoning to the shrimp and cook them for 5 minutes. Turn the shrimps frequently. Also, you will be cooking the shrimp at the same temperature that you cook the steak.

Make sure that you do not get rid of the butter sauce from the cast iron skillet before you cook the shrimp.
