This is why I adore the spicy Mexican hot chocolate recipe. Also, the ground cinnamon and instant coffee are great for taking this recipe to another level.

Then, add some spicy ingredients with some cinnamon, and now you have the spicy Mexican hot chocolate recipe.

This drink got its name by being created in Mexico. Moreover, the people who made this drink were from Mexico’s civilizations in the past.

These civilizations were the Aztecs and the Mayans. They put together vanilla and cocoa beans to make a drink that would energize the consumer.

Their traditional Mexican hot chocolate recipe would vary from spicy to sweet.

This form of hot chocolate has crushed red chili pepper, ground cinnamon, and instant coffee, which is different from the average hot chocolate.

  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 4 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Crushed Red Chili Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp Instant Coffee
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Topping:

  • 1 tbsp Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick

  • Saucepan with Pour Spouts
  • Spatula

How To Make Mexican Hot Chocolate

Making Mexican Hot Chocolate Steps 1-3

  1. Put a bit of milk into the saucepan. Place enough milk to cover the base of the saucepan.
  2. The saucepan will be on low to medium heat. Add red crushed pepper flakes.
  3. Next, add unsweetened cocoa powder.

Making Mexican Hot Chocolate Steps 4-6

  1. Then, add the ground cinnamon.
  2. Place the instant coffee into the mixture.
  3. The white sugar will be mixed into the beverage.

  1. Stir the mixture.
  2. Add the rest of the milk into the mixture.
  3. Continue to stir the mixture.
