With the combination of ground meat, raw onions, green bell peppers, white mushrooms, and cheese, everything is superb. Well, my friend, prepare to get your mind blown with this No Microwave Hot Dog Philly Cheese recipe with bun-length wieners!

Fun Fact

Fun fact that has nothing to do with the No Microwave Hot Dog Philly Cheese recipe. I was an adult when I had my first Philly cheese steak.

Before then, the closest thing I got to a Philly cheese steak was a turnover you put in the microwave. I still have not gone to Philadelphia yet, but the sandwich I ended up eating was fantastic!

The Best Of Both Worlds

I am intrigued by crazy, yet creative hot dogs. One day I was inspired by the Philly cheese steak and used bun length wieners to make the No Microwave Hot Dog Philly Cheese recipe.

Using Ground Meat Instead Of The Best Steak?

Whenever I buy steak at the grocery store, I always go with either a NY Strip steak or a rib-eye steak.

I may even get filet Mignon if I’m feeling fancy.

Although I am saving money by getting my steaks at the grocery store versus a restaurant, a good steak is still expensive. For this reason, the recipe uses ground meat instead of steak.

This is why the recipe is called No Microwave Hot Dog Philly Cheese, notice the “steak” isn’t in the name.

Granted, I could use a cheaper steak, but those steaks are low in quality, and I am not a fan of low-quality steaks.

How Do You Make The Best Hot Dog?

The way to make the best hot dogs ever is by using good quality ingredients and thinking outside the box. The quality of the hot dog is better grilled than a microwave hot dog.

Can You Microwave A Hot Dog?

Eating a microwave hot dog is a personal choice. Although it may not taste as good, microwave hot dogs are convenient.

Should You Boil Hot Dogs?

For those who do not want to eat microwave hot dogs, boiling is an option. I like to grill or cook my bun-length wieners in a skillet, making the hot dogs crispy.

Getting Creative

The best hot dogs are the ones that uniquely use ingredients you wouldn’t normally incorporate in a hot dog.

Throw some seafood on it, add some fries. Put some white mushrooms, green bell peppers, and raw onions on your hot dog. Do what you want. If the hot dog doesn’t come out well, then try something else.

A Hot Dog that is More Than a Hot Dog

I am not the biggest fan of plain hot dogs. If that is the only thing available for me to eat, then I will not be picky. I’ll even save time and eat a microwave hot dog if I am starving.

But if you have the time, energy, and resources, I say live a little and make a hot dog that will make any foodie proud.
