This is for all the pepperoni lovers out there. Are you tired of trying to find a pizzeria near you?
Your wallet can’t handle these pizza restaurants charging you 20 dollars for a pizza that will still leave you hungry?
My friend, you came to the right place because we are about to make some pepperoni pizza, also known as the best one-topping pizza.
Pepperoni lover pizza, if I had to use one word to describe it, I would have to use greatness!
Who would have ever thought that something as basic as meat, cheese, tomato sauce, and bread could taste so good?
I had a love for pizza ever since I was a kid. Every Thursday I would eat at a pizzeria near me. When my brother was working at a pizza spot, that was all we ate in my household.
The pizza restaurants we ate pizza at were limited because when you live in a small town, your options for pizza are limited.
That didn’t really matter to me though because I was not a picky eater, especially for pizza.
As long as there was a pizza crust with some sauce, meat, and cheese, I was going to eat it.
Regardless if it was the best pizza or not. Although I was not picky, my favorite one-topping pizza was always a pepperoni pizza. Of course, I enjoyed a pepperoni lover pizza because of the extra pepperoni.
The Greatness Of Pepperoni Pizza
Pepperoni pizza is a one-topping pizza that is simple, yet flavorful. It is something about the taste of pepperoni that I thoroughly enjoy.
I even buy pepperoni at the store just so I can eat them as a snack.
Whenever I buy pepperonis, I usually go with the turkey pepperoni because the regular pepperoni has too much grease in them.
Being too greasy is the only downside that comes with some pepperoni pizza.
This is why I appreciate the pizza restaurants that can serve pepperoni pizza without it being super greasy.
How can you say you have the best pizza, and you have oil dripping off the crust?
Just a personal preference of mines, some people may like their pizza like that and that’s okay.
Since I have a certain standard for my pizza, I figured why would I gamble with a pizza restaurant when I can make the pizza myself, exactly how I want it to be.
From the crust to the toppings, everything is on point, and that is the reward of creating the pepperoni lover pizza pepperoni pizza recipe instead of going to a pizzeria near me.
Pepperoni Lover Pizza Preference
Aside from my pepperoni pizza not being too greasy, I do like to have extra pepperoni on my pizza, which is why I enjoy a pepperoni lover pizza.
How many pepperonis are in a pizza? Well, that depends on a number of factors.
The pizzeria near me when I stayed in the country put about 20 to 30 pepperonis on a large pizza if I was to guess. It is about the same amount in other pizza restaurants as well.
Now, if you are making your own pizza, you can put as many pepperonis as you want on the pizza. I say the more pepperonis the better. I also like my pepperonis to have crispiness to them.
Of course, that doesn’t mean overcooked and dry or burnt, but that crispiness takes the pepperonis to the next level.
Again, this is why not going to a pizza restaurant and making your own pepperoni lover pizza can be beneficial.
Not to mention, you will save a ton of money in the process.
What Goes Good On A Pepperoni Lover Pizza?
If you are ordering a pepperoni pizza, and you decide to add more toppings, then you are in luck because most pizza toppings go well with the pepperoni.
You can add mushrooms, pineapples, black olives, bacon, beef, etc. With that pepperoni, your pizza is going to be fire regardless.
What two-topping pizza is the best? Well, funny you should ask! Before I moved to the city, I used to go to a pizzeria near me and order the classic pepperoni and sausage pizza.
Now that I stay in the city, not much has changed. I still think pepperoni and sausage are the best two-topping pizza.
Now, what are the top 5 pizza toppings? I love supreme pizza and although pepperoni is the best one-topping pizza, supreme is the best pizza of all time.
I’m sure part of the reason I love supreme so much is that it has pepperonis on them.
Get a supreme pizza with pepperoni, sausage, black olives, green bell peppers, and mushrooms, and now you have the top 5 best toppings on the best pizza.
Every time I get a supreme pizza from a pizzeria near me, I am amazed, no matter how good or bad that pizzeria near me, may be.
The Best Things To Eat With Your One-Topping Pizza
Pizza is my number one favorite food of all time. If you were to guess wings as my number two favorite food of all time, you would be correct. Like pizza, I am not picky when it comes to the type of wings that I am eating.
The cool thing about these two dishes is that they are a match made in heaven. Almost every time I make pizza from scratch, I make some wings to go with them.
If I’m trying to be cute, I’ll make some lemon pepper wings. If I’m really trying to go in, though, then I got to have buffalo wings to go with my pizza.

Prepare The Dough
- Initial Ingredients For Dough:
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 cups All-Purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1 1/2 tbsp Light Olive Oil
- 1 tsp White sugar
- 3/4 cups Water, Room Temperature
- Knead the dough until it’s smooth. If you have a stand mixer, then you can use that to knead the dough.
- Knead dough into a nice round ball, rub 1/4 tbsp of oil on the dough.
- Place dough in a sealed container and let rest for 1 hour.
- After an hour, knead the dough into a round ball again, rub the dough with the rest of the oil again, then place the pizza dough in a sealed container for another hour.
- During this resting period, preheat the oven with an iron grid inside on the highest oven temperature (550 degrees) for 30 minutes, then put the oven on high broil for another 30 mins. After 30 minutes the oven will be ready to use, but keep it on high broil because that will be the setting to cook the pizza.
- Flatten the pizza dough into a round 10 – 12 inch pizza by using your fingertips.
Using A Bread Maker For The Dough (Optional)
The first thing you would want to do is to put the wet ingredients into the bread maker.
Next, add the dry ingredients and turn the bread maker on the dough cycle.
The bread maker will do its thing and a timer will show up letting you know when the dough is ready.
If you are good at making the dough by hand, then the bread maker is not needed.
When the dough is ready, sprinkle some flour on a flat surface and place the dough on the area with the flour.
The flour will help prevent the dough from sticking to the surface.
Use the rolling pin to flatten the dough out into a pizza shape. After that, place the dough on the parchment paper and cookie sheet.
Keep in mind, when you are using a rolling pin, you are pushing the air out of the dough.
I recommend using a rolling pin if you are making a thin crust pizza. For everything else, use your fingertips.
Making The Pizza Sauce
- Sauté onion in oil until light brown.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat.
The One-Topping Pizza Is Coming Together!
When you are adding the ingredients, first add the tomato sauce, then add your cheese and pepperoni to the prepared pizza dough.
Putting The Pepperoni Lover Pizza In The Oven
As mentioned before, preheat the oven with an iron grid inside on the highest oven temperature for 30 minutes, then put the oven on high broil for 30 minutes.
Flatten the pizza on parchment paper and add your sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
Then, with the parchment paper still under the dough, put the pizza in the oven on top of the cast-iron skillet for 4-5 minutes.
Make sure to use the pizza peel so that you don’t burn yourself.
Remember, the oven will stay on high broil until the pizza is ready.
If You Are Using A Cookie Sheet Instead Of A Cast Iron Skillet (Optional)
Disclaimer: The pizza will not come out the same using the cookie sheet method, but the pizza will be delicious all the same.
The oven will preheat at 450 degrees. When the oven is hot enough, put the pizza inside and let it cook for 12 minutes.
Take the pizza out of the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Once the pizza cools down, start cutting it into slices and enjoy.
Enjoy Your Pepperoni Lover Pizza, AKA The Best Pizza!
Thin crust, thick crust, whatever you prefer, with pepperonis your pizza will be good regardless.
