Have you ever had hot chocolate with wine in it? Crazy combination, I know. Well, over here we can get a bit crazy. So, come to the wild side, and let us make the red wine hot chocolate recipe.
To Be Bitter Or To Not Be Bitter
The flavor of red wine is often described as fruity, earthy, and even slightly bitter. Furthermore, “slightly bitter” can be either an over or an understatement depending on what type of red wine we are talking about.
For example, a red blend wine would be slightly bitter, while a dry red wine would be more bitter than that. On the contrary, a sweet red wine would not be bitter at all.
The sweet red wine would be sweet like my personality. Yeah, I am a sweetheart, but enough about me. Let us get back to the topic at hand.
Of course with a name like “sweet red wine”, I would be highly disappointed if the wine was not sweet.
Speaking of sweet red wine, that sounds pretty good to use if you wanted to make the red wine hot chocolate recipe.
With that being said, just because it sounds good does not mean it will turn out good. Let me further elaborate.
Hot Chocolate With Wine
Regarding hot chocolate, if you are going to put wine in it, then sweet red wine sounds like it would be the best option.
The truth of the matter is that you need a wine that will not curd the hot chocolate. This is why a dry low acidic wine is recommended.
Unfortunately, it is still hard to not have the hot chocolate with red wine curd a little, but fortunately for us, the red wine hot chocolate recipe is still incredible.
Chocolate And Wine
The flavor of dark chocolate ranges from a mild sweetness to a more intense cocoa flavor. If you have not noticed, dark chocolate is not like the average chocolate bar that you can get from the gas station.
Dark chocolate tends to be less on the sweet side. Also, dark chocolate can be bitter as well.
For this recipe, we do not specifically use dark chocolate, however, you are more than welcome to use dark chocolate if you like.
