The Truth About The Sausage Bacon Egg And Cheese Breakfast Burger

You just started reading this blog, and you have already believed in a lie. The truth is, I did not create this recipe, my mom did.

In my defense, I did add one extra seasoning to this recipe, but I still have to give credit where credit is due.

Road To The Breakfast Burger

My mom was always the Queen of breakfast time. As a child, I always look forward to eating breakfast, especially on the weekend.

On a typical weekend, we would have multiple people over at the house. For that reason, my mom would cook a huge breakfast that was more than enough to feed everybody.

Fast forward into the future, my mom does not cook as big of a breakfast, and that is okay.

Sometimes it is quality over quantity, and this sausage bacon egg and cheese breakfast burger speak the truth to this.

Breakfast Time

For those who were curious about what my mom cooked for breakfast when I was a child, here it is.

Indeed, she cooked the basic breakfast foods. Those foods are eggs, sausage, biscuits, and bacon.

Also, sometimes she would cook some chopped-up smoked sausage links in a skillet. Moreover, her white rice was fantastic, but people outside of East Texas would not understand.

She would cook the rice by boiling it, and after that step, she would add butter and white sugar to the rice.

Furthermore, this method of cooking white rice is delicious, but outside my family, I do not know anybody else who cooks their white rice like that.

Bonus fact, my Grandmother used to cook oatmeal with brown sugar. Next, she would cook some ground pork sausage, and crumble the sausage up in the oatmeal.

Thinking back in the past, breakfast alone made my childhood worth having.

Mom’s Recipe

Out of all the breakfast foods my mom has made, this breakfast burger is hands down the best. Funny enough, she did not make this burger until I was older.

Even more interesting, this breakfast burger is the epitome of a simple recipe.

She would cook the bacon, then the sausage, then the eggs, and finally the bread. Also, she would add cheese on top of the sausage.

What Is A Breakfast Burger?

A breakfast burger is a burger with food in it that is considered breakfast food.

For example, a burger with egg in it may be considered a breakfast burger.

The Difference Between A Breakfast Burger And A Regular Burger

There is not much difference between a breakfast burger and a regular burger other than the breakfast burger has food on it that is considered to be breakfast food.

What Do You Season Burgers With? When Should You Season Burgers?

When it comes to making the best burgers, I am a firm believer that less is more. I only use salt and black pepper to season my burgers unless I’m making a specific burger.

For instance, if I was making a garlic burger, I would add garlic powder to the burger.

The best time to season your burger may vary depending on whom you ask.

Some people will season their patties when the meat is done cooking. I, on the other hand, like to season the meat while it is raw then cook the burger patty afterward.

I will say, I have been experimenting with putting all the seasoning on top of the burger patties while they are cooking.

To my surprise, they all came out pretty tasty, so I will be using this method to cook my burgers more often.

How Do You Assemble A Burger?

As basic as it may sound to assemble a burger, I do feel like mastering this makes a difference.

That’s the difference between the best burgers and hamburgers from any other burger joint.

I always put my sliced cheese on top of the patty so that while the patty is cooking, the cheese can melt over it.

For a lot of my burgers, I used to add the cheese as soon as I flipped my burger patties over. Now, I add the cheese last minute so that the parts of the cheese that get in the skillet do not burn before the patty is done cooking.

I add the other ingredients, like my onions and pickled jalapeños, next and place them on top of the patty so that all the ingredients don’t fall out.

If I am using sauce, then I would put the sauce anywhere other than on the bread. The reason for this is that if you love a lot of sauce on your burger, then having the sauce on the bread will make the bread soggy.

How Do You Make The Best Burger?

The best burger is subjective, so everybody’s opinion will differ.

The meat has to be seasoned well without too much going on.

By default, the best burger to me would be a burger with crispy bacon, cheese that is melted, and fresh ingredients.

Aside from the lettuce, I like ingredients like pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. to be cooked. With raw onions, cooked or uncooked, is okay either way.

I love a soft bun that is a little crispy, so it is necessary that the buns are cooked to some degree.

A sauce isn’t necessary, but if it is on the burger, then that is a bonus.

I made this peanut butter chipotle sauce that was so good that I had to make a burger recipe based on it.

Making The Sausage Bacon Egg And Cheese Breakfast Burger Recipe

Serving Size: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 Hamburger Bun
  • 4 oz Ground Pork Sausage
  • 2 Pieces of Bacon
  • 1 Slice American Cheese
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Egg

Equipment:

  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Lid
  • Fork
  • Mixing Bowl

Cooking The Bacon

Heat up the skillet to a medium temperature, then add the bacon. Cook the bacon for 7 minutes, then flip the bacon over to cook for another 5 minutes.

Cooking The Sausage

Remove the bacon, and add the ground sausage. Make sure the sausage is in a patty form before adding it to the skillet.

The sausage patty will cook for 6 minutes, then flip it over to cook for another 6 minutes. Keep in mind, this time may vary depending on how thick or thin your sausage patty is.

Within the last two minutes of cooking your sausage patty, add the cheese, and add the lid to the skillet.

Cooking The Eggs

Once the sausage is ready, you will take the sausage out of the skillet, then add the egg, but make sure you beat the egg first.

Add black pepper to the egg before beating it. After adding the black pepper, and beating the egg, add the egg to the skillet, and cook for 2 minutes.

Try to spread the egg out as much as you can so that the egg can cook evenly.

After 2 minutes, flip the egg and cook for another 30 seconds. I highly recommend using a non-stick skillet.

If you are not using a non-stick skillet, you will have a hard time flipping the egg.

The purpose of flipping the egg is to make sure the top is all the way cooked. If you like your eggs a little runny, then you do not have to worry about flipping the eggs.

Toasting The Buns

Next, remove the egg, and add the buns to the skillet with the flat side on the surface of the skillet. Toast the buns for 1 minute.

If you want the top side toasted, then you can do that for about 30 seconds.

Assembling The Breakfast Burger

Now that everything is ready, all that is left to be done is to assemble the sausage bacon egg, and cheese breakfast burger.

Time To Dig In

This sausage bacon egg and cheese breakfast burger were not around doing my childhood, but it still holds a special place in my heart, and in my stomach.
