Hot Chocolate With Spices In It Is A Thing?

Seeing these recipes were an indicator to me that in Mexican culture, it is normal to add all types of spices to your chocolate beverage.

This revelation inspired me to make a Mexican hot chocolate spiced recipe. After that, I went on to create this spiced hot chocolate recipe.

If I were to look at the two recipes, the difference would be within the ingredients.

Although they have similar ingredients, Mexican hot chocolate uses red crushed pepper flakes and instant coffee, while hot chocolate with spices uses allspice berries, bay leaves, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.

As far as the process of making both hot chocolates go, the method is the same.
