Air fryer users rejoice! There is another air fryer chicken wings recipe in the ecosystem, and it is covered in spicy BBQ sauce. You can get started by putting your wings in the air fryer.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. While the oven is preheating, start preparing your chicken wings by cleaning them with lemon juice, vinegar, or something acidic.
After you clean your chicken wings, separate the flats and drums. This step is optional. Put 3/4 teaspoon of salt and 3/4 teaspoon of black pepper on your wings, then wrap them up in foil. By now, the oven should be done preheating and is ready to go.
Make sure that the chicken wings, wrapped in foil are on top of a cookie sheet. This will make putting the chicken wings in the oven easier. Also, this will reduce the mess that can happen in your oven if a hole were to be poked in the foil.
Cooking The Chicken Wings
Put the chicken wings in the oven for 30 minutes, then take them out. Remove the chicken wings from the foil. The chicken broth created by the chicken wings will be used in the sauce so do not throw that away once the wings are removed from the foil.
Put your flour in a bowl and season it with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.
The egg mixture will be the two eggs and the tablespoon of hot sauce. Make sure to thoroughly mix it up.
Put The Wings In The Air Fryer
Now, coat your wing in the egg mixture, then coat your wing in the flour mixture. Then, put the wing in the air fryer. Do this for each wing.
Once all the wings are in the air fryer, set the temperature to 360 degrees and let the wings cook for 16 minutes. After the 8-minute mark, you will need to flip the wings.
Some air fryers will start beeping to indicate that the wings are halfway done and that it is time to flip the wings.
Cooking The Spicy BBQ Sauce
With the chicken broth, add the brown sugar, water, and 1/4 cup of hot sauce to the skillet. Cook the sauce for 5 minutes and stir frequently.
When everything is ready, put wings into a mixing bowl. Add the spicy BBQ sauce and start tossing the wings. Once the wings are completely coated, you can start digging in.
